THE Bath Chorus was started by Grenville Jones in January 2009 and is pictured above on stage at the Bath Forum on December 12th 2009 when New Zealand singing sensation HAYLEY WESTENRA was the choir's special guest. THE Chorus has a membership of 90 singers who are setting new standards as the leading mixed voice choir in Bath.
THE Chorus is a young friendly (auditioned) Monday night rehearsal choir and its conductor Grenville Jones is also the founder conductor of the famous Last Choir Standing City of Bath Male Choir, the fabulous Stockingtops an all-girl harmony group and he is also founder of the Goldies-Oldies Charity which has attracted huge media attention. He also leads The Good Afternoon Choir which has a membership of 100 singers and is Musical Director to the Norland College Choir.
Bath Chorus accompanist and Grenville's deputy is Francis Faux. The repertoire is varied - everything from Mozart and Parry to Chilcott and Whitacre. If you join the Chorus you will enjoy your music making - there could even be some Abba! Come along to a rehearsal and find out more.
THE Chorus has two important February dates coming up. On Saturday FEBRUARY 6th the Choir will perform with The Bath Male Choir at St Michael's Church in the centre of Bath at 7.30pm. Many of the men in THE Chorus also sing with Bath Male Choir and are running the Bath Half Marathon on March 7th. All proceeds from this concert go to the total sponsorship raised by the 48 Bath Male Choir members who are raising money for the Golden-Oldies Charity and the National Prostate Society. For tickets for this concert - priced £8 - call 01761 472468 or email jody@jonespublications.co.uk
On Saturday afternoon February 27th THE Chorus will support the Help 4 Heroes Charity and lead the singing in the splendour of Wells Cathedral. This service of celebration for the soldiers fighting in Afghanistan will start at 2pm. There is no admission charge and members of the public are advised to arrive early. The Bath Male Choir will also be taking part.
