We are a large mixed-voice choir based in the World Heritage City of Bath. The founder conductor of the Bath Chorus is one of the West Country's leading musicians, Grenville Jones. We are an auditioned choir and after you have attended your first rehearsal, Grenville arranges a convenient Monday before rehearsal for a painless voice test.

The Bath Chorus was founded by Grenville in 2009. Since that time the choir have established themselves as one of the leading groups from the West Country. The members come from in and around the Bath area. Many are students who are studying in the City as well as ‘new comers’ to Bath who find the Bath Chorus when they search for a new choir to join!
The choir recorded a number of popular hymn tunes back in 2019 and are available to listen to on a new website called www.hymsearch.co.uk. Grenville's idea is that people who are searching for a hymn for a special occasion may find it helpful to listen to and see the words for popular hymns that they may like to choose for their occasion - 'O Perfect Love' for instance, is a popular Wedding hymn and as a taster here is the Bath Chorus singing it for you. We hope that this new website will be a useful aid to those who are searching for a special hymn.

The choir has an extensive repertoire and in the past has performed regularly at Bath Abbey as well as many other local churches and concert venues in the West Country. They have performed at Coventry Cathedral and one of the highlights of recent years was a memorable concert with the RAF Central Band supporting the Help for Heroes Charity. It has also appeared with Aled Jones and last year (2018), together with the City of Bath Male Choir (also conducted by Grenville). They helped to raise over £12,000 for the British Heart Foundation in 2017 following the untimely death of a member of both choirs.
Regular appearances at Bath Festival’s ‘Party in the City’ as well as joint concerts with many other groups has contributed to the reputation of the Bath Chorus as being one of the friendliest and best supportive choirs in the City of Bath.

Hear the choirs sing...
One of the pieces sung by the massed choirs was the beautiful CALM ME, LORD - words by David Adam, music by Margaret Rizza. The accompanist is Phil Ridgers with violinist Lizz Lipscombe.
Founder Grenville Jones has appeared on radio and television across the world. He is the founder of the Golden-Oldies Charity (not a choir) but brings music and fun to older isolated people across England and Wales. Under his musical umbrella are the nine Good Afternoon Choirs, The City of Bath Male Choir who reached finals of the BBC’s Last Choir Standing series and his ever growing community choir the Bath Welcome Choir. Last February, he was one of the 100 judges on the BBCs popular Saturday evening series ‘All Together Now’. The picture above shows Grenville with All Together Now presenter Rob Beckett - the second series went out on BBC1 Saturday nights this February.
